Rabobank-Giant rider Michiel van der Hiejden scored the team’s top result at Round 3 of the UCI World Cup Cross-Country Series in the Czech Republic Saturday, just missing the win in the men’s Under-23 race by 6 seconds. The Under-23 Dutch National Champion raced his Giant XtC Advanced SL to the second step on the podium, moving into fourth place overall in the series.

Swiss rider Fabian Giger topped the team’s efforts in the elite men’s race, putting in another solid top-10 performance. Racing in front of a large crowd in Nove Mesto, Giger handled the technical course well on his XtC Composite 29er. He finished seventh, moving up to eighth overall in the series.

In the elite women’s race, French rider Pauline Ferrand Prevot, looking to qualify of the 2012 Olympics in London, preserved her top-10 overall standing with a 21st place finish. Ferrand Prevot is now seventh overall in the series after 3 of 7 events. Her teammate, Rosara Joseph of New Zealand, finished right behind her in 22nd.

The World Cup Cross-Country series continues next weekend with Round 4 in La Bresse, France.
