New to Giant this year, Virginia Berasategui of Spain is one of the world’s top long-distance triathletes. The 35-year-old Spaniard has won four ITU Long Distance World Championship medals, including gold in 2003, and is among a handful of women who capable of winning the ultimate prize, the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

A podium finish in Hawaii in 2009 made Berasategui even more hungry to win it all in Kona, and she says she’s excited about her 2011 move to Giant and riding the Trinity Advanced SL.

“I am really excited about joining Giant and working with their technical staff,” Berasategui says. “I know Timo Bracht has had tremendous success and some incredibly fast bike splits on his Giant. Having the fastest bike is a critical part of my overall performance.”

A proud Basque citizen, Berasategui says she loves new challenges. Her motto, fittingly, is “Nothing is impossible.”

After a winter of hard training in Spain, Berasategui kicks off the most important part of her season in late-April, at the Wildflower Triathlon in California. She is focused on both Ironman and half-Ironman events this summer with her main goal being the Ironman Worlds in Hawaii.
