Hart Moves Up in DH World Cup

3 június 2012

Downhill World Champion Danny Hart of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team put in a solid finals run at round 2 of the 2012 UCI World Cup Downhill Series in Italy Sunday, finishing less than one second off the podium and moving up to eighth overall for the year.

Hart qualified with the eighth fastest time at Val di Sole, Italy, the venue where he had a breakthrough second-place finish in 2011. The 20-year-old Brit came out of the start charging on his Giant Glory team bike, posting the fastest split on the top section of the course. At the finish, Hart just missed taking the lead by half a second. He eventually finished sixth.

Hart’s teammate Andrew Neethling of South Africa had a crash in his finals run, losing time and finishing 62nd. Fortunately his top-10 finish at round 1 in South Africa means Neethling is still in the top-20 overall.

The World Cup Downhill Series continues next weekend, as riders travel to Ft. William, Scotland, for round 3.
