Emmett Wins Colorado Enduro Race!

24 augusztus 2011

Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Kelli Emmett showed her range over the past two weeks, competing in back-to-back off-road events on opposite ends of the spectrum. Five days after she raced her XtC Advanced SL hardtail at the August 13 Leadville 100 ultra-endurance XC race in Colorado, Emmett packed up her Giant Reign all-mountain bike and headed to the gravity-oriented Trestle Bike Enduro.

The Trestle event, also held in Emmett’s home state of Colorado, required riders to choose one bike for multiple stages of Downhill and Super D races. Racing five stages in three days, Emmett came from behind to win the race, the first of its kind in the U.S.

“It’s a really fun format, a great test for all-around riders,” Emmett said. “Some of the girls I competed with were on full DH bikes but I chose the 6-inch travel Reign for its all-around versatility. I ran a single 36-tooth chainring, a RockShox Vivid Air shock and Lyrik fork, it was the perfect set-up.”

Over the course of three days of racing at the Winter Park ski resort, Emmet faced everything from DH style courses with big jumps to a chainless downhill event to a final-day Super D, which in the end proved decisive.

“It’s such a fun race atmosphere,” Emmett said. “I hope it catches on, I’d love to see more of these types of races.”
