2 december 2011

For the fifth straight year, Rabobank-Giant rider Katie Compton was voted Female Cyclocross Rider of the Year by Cyclingnews.com readers. More than 21,000 readers voted, and Compton won with 28.5 percent of the votes.

“I’m excited to win the poll and glad to know I’m still number one in the hearts of Cyclingnews.com readers,” Compton said.

Compton, the current U.S. National Champion who lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was the UCI No. 1 ranked female cyclocross rider last year and has remained atop the standings this year. She won the opening round of the 2011-2012 World Cup on her Giant TCX Advanced SL and has been on the podium of every race she has started this season.

Dutch rider Marianne Vos finished second in the voting, and Katerina Nash of the Czech Republic was third.
