Going for Gold: Sweetland partners with Giant Bicycle
Vancouver, BC- 25 April 2008- Top Canadian ITU World Cup Triathlete and Olympic Hopeful Kirsten Sweetland has teamed up with Giant Bicycle.
For her cycling stages, Giant Canada will be supporting Sweetland with their high-end, carbon reinforced Ares helmets and TCR Advanced Team Edition framesets featuring Giant’s proprietary composite technology. The bikes will also be spec’d with Shimano Dura-Ace componentry, wheelsets and pedals to provide Sweetland with one of the most aggressive and competitive high performance bicycles available.
"I am so excited about my partnership with Giant Bicycles!” said Sweetland. “I like to use the best equipment when it comes to training and racing and Giant certainly meets that standard. I'm sure my TCR Advanced will serve me well in this important Olympic year!"
At just 19 years of age, Sweetland is already comfortable with success. In 2006 Sweetland was triumphant in Lausanne, Switzerland to become ITU Junior World Champion. She followed up that achievement in her first full year of competition at the Elite Women’s level by claiming victory at the 2007 ITU South African World Cup event in Richards Bay. She completed the 2007 campaign ranked 13th overall and was Canada’s top female World Cup Triathlete. At present Sweetland is a strong contender to represent Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to be held later this August.
“We’re very proud to partner up with Kirsten,” states Randy Pye, Marketing Manager for Giant Canada. “She demonstrates the same level of commitment and dedication to the sport of Triathlon that we demonstrate as a company. It’s a perfect fit!”
In addition to representing Giant Bicycle products, Kirsten will also be a contributing writer on the Giant for Women ‘Ride Society’.
