Kruijswijk Makes Podium at Tour de Suisse

Rabobank rider Steven Kruijswijk continued his rise through the pro ranks with an impressive podium finish at the Tour de Suisse stage race. Kruijswijk, a 24-year-old Dutch rider, rode his Giant TCR Advanced SL to his first pro win in Thursday's Stage 6, and went on to finish the nine-day race third overall.

The Rabobank team had an impressive showing at the Tour de Suisse, a race that featured many of the top contenders for the upcoming Tour de France. In addition to Kruijswijk, Bauke Mollema finished fifth and Laurens Ten Dam was eighth in GC and second in the Mountains Classification. Led by those three riders, Rabobank ended the week second among 20 squads in the teams classification.

For Kruijswijk, the podium finish at one of the marquee stage races of the year was further confirmation that he has developed into a top contender in just his second year as a professional. Last month Kruijswijk finished ninth at the Giro d’Italia.

With the strong team performance in Switzerland, plus team leader Robert Gesink’s solid climbing form on display at the Criterium du Dauphine stage race in France last week, Rabobank will start the Tour de France on July 2 in fine form.
