World Champ Leads Giant at Sea Otter

23 April 2012

The Giant Factory Off-Road Team was in Monterey, California over the weekend, racing both XC and gravity events at the Sea Otter Classic. Downhill World Champion Danny Hart scored the team’s top result of the four-day festival, finishing fourth in the men’s dual slalom on Saturday.

Hart advanced through the elimination rounds in the head-to-head dual slalom race, a spectator favorite at the Sea Otter. He made it all the way to the semi-finals on his Giant Trance X and eventually finished on the podium.

Leading the team in XC results was American Kelli Emmett. Emmett, an all-arounder who races XC, enduro DH and short-track events, finished an impressive sixth in the elite women’s XC race, which featured a talented field of international racers.

With hot temperatures and a dry course, Emmett rode well on her XtC Composite 29er, finishing just 10 seconds behind fifth-place finisher Katerina Nash of the Czech Republic. Emmett rode the same bike for the short-track, finishing 11th in a deep field.
