LIV/GIANT AND YSC SPONSOR BICYCLE DESIGN CONTEST
|
The 2012 Liv/giant Avail 1 is the canvas for artists – who happen to be breast cancer survivors – in the YSC/Giant Bicycle Design Contest. Breast cancer survivors have through October 31 to submit custom color and graphics to be considered in the design and production of a special edition of the bicycle.
Breast Cancer Survivors Invited to Custom Design Liv/giant Avail 1!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for the entire month Liv/giant and the Young Survival Coalition are sponsoring a bicycle design contest open to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The contest will let the artistic talent of breast cancer survivors shine through in custom designing a Liv/giant Avail 1 road bike that will be produced and sold by Giant retailers throughout the United States.
The winning entry will be selected by a team of judges from the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) and Giant, and the drawing will become a reality in the form of a special edition 2012 Liv/giant Avail 1. The artist of the selected entry will also win one of the special edition Avail 1 bicycles.
The Avail 1 is one of Liv/giant’s most popular bicycles, designed specifically for women for group rides or solo sessions, centuries or criteriums. The Avail 1 features Giant’s lightweight ALUXX SL aluminum frame with the distinctive OverDrive headtube—oversized for improved handling and slightly taller for optimized endurance positioning. The Liv/giant Avail 1 also features 10-speed Shimano 105 components, Giant’s Advanced-Grade Composite fork with an Alloy OverDrive steerer tube, Giant Connect handlebars and stem distinctively designed for women, and a Giant Connect Composite seatpost.
Entries for the YSC/Giant Bicycle Design Contest must be submitted by Monday, October 31, 2011. For an entry form, the official rules, and a design template on which to work, go to http://www.ysctourdepink.org/
