KELLI EMMETT TAKES THIRD IN BOULDER CUP CROSS RACE!

The cyclo-cross season is in full swing and Giant’s Kelli Emmett placed third in the second day of the Boulder Cup, for her first ever UCI cyclo-cross podium! Both VeloNews.com and CyclingNews.com have stories, and CyclingNews.com also has a nice photo of Kelli on the course. This was a 2-day event, and Kelli took her third place on Sunday when she received a better starting position than she had on Saturday. Her improved start was, according to VeloNews, due to her 4th place finish at Cross Vegas during Interbike. Here’s how VeloNews describes it: “Emmett said her improved performance Sunday came from a better starting position. Though she didn’t receive a call-up Saturday, after the race she mentioned UCI points received at Cross Vegas to race officials, who brought her to the line ahead of those without points on Sunday. On the fourth lap, following the sand pits, Emmett left Irmiger, Barnholt and Mazza for good. It was Emmett’s first-ever UCI cyclocross podium.”
