The Jeep 48Straight Mountain Bike series came to a close on October 26 at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA. The final in a series of three events featured the best names in the history of Jeep Mountain Bike racing. Giant’s pro MTB gravity riders Jared Rando and Amiel Cavalier were among the competitors.
Rando, the 4-time Australian National champion, placed fourth in the men’s competition. He had finished 3rd in the first race of the series in New Jersey in August. His Giant team mate and fellow Aussie, Amiel Cavalier, finished 14th on the day. Also competing was US National XC and Super D champion Adam Craig, another member of the Giant MTB team.
The legendary Brian Lopes won the day’s event in the finale, but his friend and rival Eric Carter won the overall in the three-race series.
Also appearing at the event at the Madonna Inn was former champion Tara Llanes. The Giant for Women Ride Society leader was a featured announcer for the race.
Highlights of the San Luis Obispo race are scheduled to air on the CBS television network on November 1. Check your local listings. To read more about the Jeep 48Straight series, go to:
