Giant’s all-new oversized fork steerer tube technology. Designed to offer unprecedented front-end steering performance, the system’s oversized headset bearings and tapered steerer tube work in harmony to provide supreme steering stiffness.
Modified Monocoque Construction
Similar to Monocoque technology, but Modified Monocoque eliminates the outermost woven composite sheet (found on heavier framesets) to reduce weight without affecting ride quality, strength or stiffness.
A massively oversized bottom-bracket/chainstay area features a fully integrated, 86-millimeter-wide bottom-bracket design. Asymmetric chainstays provide additional stiffness on the driveside and stability on the non-driveside.
A massive rectangular downtube and oversized toptube work in unison to provide superior front-end lateral and torsional steering precision. The precisely engineered, rectangular shaped downtube yields unprecedented pedaling stiffness.
This full-composite, lightweight (210 grams) and highly aerodynamic seatpost is engineered specifically for the unyielding demands of the performance-minded road rider. It offers increased fore/aft stiffness for maximum energy transmission, improved aerodynamics (compared to a traditional round seatpost) and two offset options (10 or 23 millimeters).
Hand-cut composite swatches are strategically laidup, piece by piece, to create each frame. The frame’s ride qualities are meticulously crafted and controlled through precise layering of each individual swatch (there are more than 500 pieces per frame) in an exact schedule. The direction of each individual piece’s composite grain allows Giant engineers to customtune each frame’s individual ride characteristics.
Defy Advanced 0
RIDE FASTER, RIDE FARTHER. AN ENDURANCE ROAD BIKE THAT CAN CONQUER TOWERING CLIMBS, CRUSH SPRINTS AND LOG BIG MILES.

|Weight||How much does this bike weigh? It’s a common question, and rightly so. But the truth is, there are no industry standards for claiming bike weights—and this leads to a lot of misinformation. Variances exist based on size, frame material, finish and hardware. And as bikes get lighter, these differences become more critical. At Giant, we believe the only way to truly know the weight of any particular bike is to find out for yourself at your local retailer.|
