Van der Haar Unstoppable!

21 November 2011

Rabobank-Giant rider Lars van der Haar added two more wins to his 2011-2012 cyclocross season, scoring Under-23 victories in Saturday’s GVA Trofee Series race in The Netherlands and Sunday’s Superprestige event in Belgium.

Van der Haar, the reigning U23 World Champion and this year’s U23 European Champion, put on a powerful display at Saturday’s GVA Trofee race in The Netherlands. On a fast course in Hasselt, he gapped the field on his Giant TCX Advanced SL and rode to a solo win, beating series leader Micki van Empel by 32 seconds. The win put Van der Haar in second place overall after three rounds of the GVA Trofee series.

Following his win on Saturday, Van der Haar traveled to Belgium for Sunday’s Round 4 of the Superprestige series. His winning form continued in Gavere, where he teamed up with Stan Godrie to deliver a 1-2 finish for Rabobank-Giant’s U23 squad.

Van der Haar now has a comfortable lead in the Superprestige series after three four rounds. With Godrie in fourth, Mike Teunissen in sixth and Gert-Jan Bosman in seventh, Rabobank-Giant is dominating the U23 category with four riders in the top-10.

In elite men’s racing over the weekend, Rabobank-Giant rider Bart Aernouts maintained his top-five standing in the GVA Trofee with a seventh-place on Saturday, then put in a super strong effort to finish fourth on home turf in Belgium in Sunday's Superprestige race. That top-five finish in Gavere put Aernouts fourth overall in the Superprestige series.
