Giant Cyclist Jody Cundy takes to the track & road

World & Paralympic Champion Jody Cundy headed down to the track recently for the Good Friday Track Meet, the debut for the first Para-Cycling Team he set up.

Narrowly beaten in the Sprint qualifying rounds Jody took part in the 1 Mile Dash, where he made the podium for the first time in his Para-Cycling colours, narrowly missing out on the win. In the Kierin Jody took the lead before being beaten at the finish by GB riders Pete Mitchell & Phillip Hindes.

Jody then set off for Australia where he took in some great training around Wollongong before moving on to the Sydney Olympic Park for the World Cup. First up was the 78 Km road race comprising 8 laps of Easter Creek Racing Circuit. With the aim of finishing top 10. He lost the group and contended with tough head and cross winds on the open course finishing 9th in the C4 category, importantly scoring points for the London qualifying process.

The following day was the TT race, 4 laps of the Olympic Park course. At the end of the 22Km race Jody had bettered the previous day’s efforts, finishing in 6th place overall.

Next up are three back to back weekends of racing in Piacenza, Gippingen and Segovia.

Keep up to date with Jody by following him on Twitter @jodycundy and in the Teams and Riders section of the Giant website.
