The ultimate velocity weapon - MBUK SuperBike XtC Advanced SL 29er
February 11, 2013
Mountain Biking UK choose one superbike each month - to qualify for SuperBike status the bike has to be one of 'the most desirable bikes on the planet'. In MBUK March it's Giant XtC Advanced SL 29er.
"When a company with the experience and facilities of Giant stick an 'Advanced Super Light' tag on a new race bike, you can be sure it's something very special"
Testers open by highlighting Giant's carbon manufacturing heritage that sets us apart from the competition;
"Giant not only have 25 years of carbon bike experience... they also have a unique level of fibre to finished frame control"
Giant XtC Advanced SL is the fourth generation of the frame created through a year of development with direct feedback from Giant Pro Riders and is built for all out performance. The frame is superlight but not at the compromise of stiffness;
"..this is particularly obvious up front where Giant's proprietary OverDrive 2 system and shoebox like square section carbon stem offers serious steering stiffness.."
The stunning XtC Advanced SL frame helped tester Guy Kesteven 'decimate' a whole set of Strava KOM's on his first serious ride back from the MBUK secret photoshoot location - but it wasn't just the frame. Giant's new P-XCR 0 composite 29er wheelsystem were the lightest carbon wheels the Magazine had used, and they are tubeless ready.
