SYSTEM-ENGINEERED PERFORMANCE

Giant P-SLR1 Aero Wheelsystem

Giant launches four new WheelSystems

Giant has launched four new wheelsystems including a deep-dish Aero model featuring carbon and scandium rim construction. Born from Giant’s ‘System-Engineered Performance’ design philosophy which considers each element of the wheel and its relationship to the other elements during the design stage, every rim, hub and spoke has been carefully designed to function as a system to offer optimum performance – a breakaway from the traditional approach of selecting pre-designed parts and building them into wheel sets.

All four wheelsystems feature 21mm rim width – so you can run lower tyre pressure for comfort and control without increasing the risk of pinch flats and are built using cutting edge materials such as scandium, composite and high strength aluminium to meet the optimum balance of aerodynamics, weight, stiffness and comfort. The wheelsystems use high-quality Swiss hub internals with sealed hub bearings.

The P-SLR1 Aero wheelsystem features a lightweight, deep-dish aerodynamic design for high performance riding. With 50mm deep rims constructed from carbon and scandium, smooth streamlined surfaces, aerodynamic rim shape and hidden spoke nipples at the end of aero bladed stainless steel spokes (16 front, 20 rear) - the P-SLR1 Aero’s are engineered to slice through the air with minimal aerodynamic drag – increasing rider performance and reducing fatigue. Not only are they aero, they’re also stiff – the wide flange front hub increases lateral stiffness and the asymmetric rear rim maintains spoke bracing angles for better strength, stiffness and durability. The pair weigh in at just 1575g and are tubeless ready.

The P-SLR1 wheelsystem is superlight and engineered for a stiff, comfortable ride. Scandium rims and forged 6000-series hubs are laced with aero bladed stainless steel spokes (16 front, 20 rear). They also feature a wide flange front hub, and asymmetric rear rim for stiffness and strength. Tubeless ready with 21mm rim widths for lower PSI comfort and weigh in at just 1390g per pair.

The P-SL0 wheelsystem offers versatile performance - light enough to race and tough enough for everyday riding and training. Rims are constructed using lightweight 6061 aluminium, with forged 6000 series hubs and sealed hub bearings. 16 DT Aero bladed stainless steel spokes slice through the air at the front with 20 at the rear. Wide flange front hubs and asymmetric rear rims offer improved stiffness and strength and the tubeless ready P-SL0’s weigh in at only 1595g per pair.

Giant’s P-SL1 wheelsystem is designed for performance road riders who are considering racing. Stiff and durable, the wheelsystem is constructed from 6061 aluminium rims and forged 6000 series hubs with sealed bearings, laced with DT Champion spokes (18 front, 24 rear). The 21mm rim width means you can run lower pressure tyres for added comfort and weight is 1775g per pair.

The new Giant wheelsystems will be available at Giant authorised retailers from September 2011.
