Super D Sweep for Decker, Emmett
|
Decker has won 8 of the last 9 Pro XCT Super D races he has entered.
Giant Factory Off-Road Team riders Carl Decker and Kelli Emmett swept the Super D competition at the June 25-26 Subaru Cup in Mt. Morris, Wisconsin. Both took convincing wins in an event that served as the fifth round of the US Pro XCT Series.
Emmett rode her Giant Anthem X Advanced SL to a Super D win for the second year in a row at the Wisconsin ski resort.
“The Super D course has a decent amount of climbing, so my Anthem X was perfect,” said Emmett, who also finished fifth in the pro women’s XC race.
In the men’s race, Decker chose to ride his Anthem X 29er.
“The course here made up for its lack of drop with perfect dirt and lots of turns meandering through ferns under a lush canopy of trees," Decker said. "Really beautiful trails, with just enough roots and rocks to make it challenging but still quite smooth and flowy.”
With the victory, Decker has now won eight of the last nine Pro XCT Super D races that he has entered. In fact, the only Pro XCT Super D he failed to win over the last three years was last year’s Wisconsin race, when there were some questions about timing.
Decker also finished 12th in the pro men’s XC event. Also representing Giant in the pro men’s XC race was Olympian Adam Craig of the Rabobank-Giant team. Craig finished fourth.
Next up for Decker and Emmett is the Downieville All Mountain World Championships in California July 8-10, followed by the U.S. National MTB Championships in Sun Valley, Idaho, the following weekend.
