Giant Triathlete makes it two ITU podiums from two in Kitzbuhel

Giant Triathlete Helen Jenkins was just 6 seconds from the win in Kitzbuhel while Canadian Paul Findlay won another consecutive victory – her 5th so far in the Triathlon ITU World Championship Series.

Jenkins and American Sarah Haskins set a blistering pace in the swim, before battling through sunshine, rain and even hail on her Giant TCR Advanced SL before getting caught by the chasing group. Jenkins then pushed hard in the run, dropping the pack and forcing Findlay to keep her pace at the front before she was narrowly beaten to the finish line.

After the race Helen Jenkins said;

“I’m happy with second. I wish we’d sat up and waited (on the bike) now but it is racing and you have to give it a go. I’d given everything by the end and from Madrid I knew I couldn’t beat her over the last 400 metres, so from seven kilometres I really pushed on. I knew Paula was suffering but she was strong at the end.”

Next up for Helen will be the Hyde Park round on 6-7th August, missing Hamburg to concentrate on the crucial Olympic selection race on home turf.
