Moorlag, one of the sport's top young riders, can now add a U-23 European Championships medal to his Junior National Championship honors.
Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team rider Henk Jaap Moorlag scored a silver medal Saturday at the European Cross-Country Championships in Slovakia. The 21-year-old Dutch rider, a former Junior National Champion in The Netherlands, rode his Giant XtC Advanced SL to second place in the men's Under-23 race. At the end of a tightly fought battle, he was just 34 seconds behind Italian winner Gerhard Kerschbaumer.
In the elite men’s race in Slovakia, Swiss rider Fabian Giger led the way for Rabobank-Giant, finishing a strong fourth on his XtC Advanced SL. On a fast, dry course in Dohnany, Giger just missed medaling, finishing one spot off the podium.
With the European Championships now complete, Giger, Moorlag and the rest of the Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team riders now turn their attention back to the World Cup series, which resumes next weekend in The Czech Republic.
