Giant Triathlete is World Champion for the second time!
Giant Triathlete Helen Jenkins took silver in the ITU Triathlon World Championship Series final today in Beijing behind New Zealand's Andrea Hewitt - making enough points to win the 2011 series and be crowned World Champion for the second time.
Jenkins, who was World Champion in 2008 went into today's race with the pressure on as she was already in the lead and needed a podium finish to clinch the series.
Battling to the front of the swim, Jenkins formed part of a 15 strong group on the bike leg riding her Giant TCR Advanced SL hard to keep the gap between the lead and chasing group that contained the title threatening Barbara Riveros Diaz.
Jenkins and Hewitt then powered ahead on the run with Hewitt's Gold giving her 2nd place in the Series while Helen clinched the title of 2011 World Champion. Meanwhile American Sarah Groff's 10th place finish earned her 3rd place overall in the 2011 series.
