Bos Scores First Win on Propel Advanced SL!

February 15, 2013

One day after his teammate Paul Martens won the opening stage of the Volta ao Algarve stage race in Portugal, Blanco sprinter Theo Bos claimed victory on the new Giant Propel Advanced SL aero road bike. Bos won Friday's 195km Stage 2 in Lagoa with a powerful sprint finish that also gave him the overall race lead.

Blanco put one rider, Sep Vanmarcke, in an early breakaway that gained a maximum lead of more than eight minutes over the field near the midway point of the race. That forced other teams to chase the break to cut down the gap. As the field closed in, Vanmarcke tried several more attacks before the sprinters’ teams, including Blanco, took over in the closing kilometers.

Riding his new Propel Advanced SL team bike, Bos powered past Italian Giacomo Nizzolo and Bruno Matos Sancho of Portugal to take the win and move into the GC lead. The four-day race will finish with a time trial on Sunday.
