BECKINGSALE WINS AT SHERWOOD

Sunshine in Sherwood Forest for R1 of the British MTB Series
Oli Beckingsale shows his strength at British MTB Series R1
Oli Beckingsale rode to victory this weekend in the first round of the British Mountain Bike Series at Sherwood Pines in Nottinghamshire. On a flat and fast course not well suited to strong climber Oli, he controlled the race from start to finish as others gradually struggled to maintain his consistently fast pace.
Choosing to ride his light and efficient Giant Anthem X Advanced SL, Oli made the break from the start as part of a six strong group of front runners which was gradually cut to just two riders approaching the final lap. Welshman Lee Williams rode to second place 28 seconds behind winner Oli, followed by David Fletcher. Adrian Lansley, riding for PedalOn.co.uk finished in 5th position. The unexpected sunny weather not only kept the race course fast but also helped keep demo riders happy as they experienced Giant’s Maestro suspension technology first hand on a specially designed demo circuit. Giant demo rides are available at each of the British Mountain Bike Series events this year – all for free; simply come along between 10am and 3pm on Saturday or Sunday with photo id and a credit card, along with a helmet which is required to ride and you can experience the latest Giant bikes and test them against the competition.
Along with free demo rides, camping is available at each round and you can enjoy watching the UK’s top cross country riders in action, or if you are feeling really adventurous then why not enter one of the race categories! To learn more and to find out about the next event visit BritishXC.com
