IMPORTANT GIANT TRINITY ADVANCED SL PRODUCT UPDATE
|
2010 Trinity Advanced SL 0
The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) has determined that the model year 2010 Giant Trinity Advanced SL is no longer in compliance with its technical regulations. This latest decision is a reversal of the governing organization’s earlier agreement that the frame, fork and aerodynamic “AeroDrive” components were all in compliance. This ruling pertains specifically to UCI-governed time-trial competition and does not apply to non UCI-governed time trial events or triathlon competition of any level.
For Canadian-based events, this recent UCI ruling will be superseded by Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) regulations - meaning that all owners of a 2010 Trinity Advanced SL will be allowed to compete in all domestic time trial events for the remainder of the 2010 season.
An official statement from the CCA on this Canadian-specific ruling can be found here.
All Canadian customers who have purchased a 2010 Trinity Advanced SL bicycle or frameset may continue to compete in CCA sanctioned events, at least, until January 1, 2011. Should the CCA decide to uphold the UCI’s recent compliance ruling, Giant Bicycle Canada will determine an appropriate course of action to take for those consumers who are directly affected by the ruling.
Since the majority of these bicycles have most likely been sold to triathletes, it’s important to emphasize that the UCI ruling does NOT in any way affect the “legality” of the Giant Trinity Advanced SL in triathlon competition. Triathletes who own a Giant Trinity Advanced SL should feel confident that their bicycles can be used in competition worldwide.
As a result of the UCI’s decision, the Giant-sponsored Rabobank Professional Cycling Team is testing a UCI-compliant version of the Trinity Advanced SL. With final verification from the UCI, this second-generation Trinity Advanced SL may see commercial production and be available for sale for the 2011 model year. Additional information will be presented in conjunction with the launch of the updated Trinity Advanced SL.
