Bos Sprints to Win in Turkey!

23 April 2012

Rabobank rider Theo Bos pulled on the first leader’s jersey at the 2012 Tour of Turkey Sunday, winning the first stage in a sprint finish. Bos powered his Giant TCR Advanced SL past Australian Matthew Gos and Italian Daniele Colli at the end of the 135km circuit race in Alanya.

Bos’s teammates helped chase down a seven-man breakaway, which held an eight-minute lead with just under 100km to go. The sprint was marred by a large crash behind Bos, who was safely delivered to the line by teammates Graeme Brown and Mark Renshaw.

After the win, Bos’s team director Jan Boven said the 28-year-old would not try to defend the leader’s jersey, but would instead focus on stage wins and building his form for the upcoming Giro d’Italia, the season’s first grand tour. The eight-day Tour of Turkey concludes next Sunday.
