I started riding mountain bikes in 2006. I used to race national motocross and supercross up until 2005. I stopped riding motos after a bit of an injury and a financial hurdle and I thought I’d look into mountain bikes in early 2006. I rocked up to a Wollongong mountain bike club day with joggers, a $400 bike, hat under my helmet and a pair of knicks I bought the day before. I entered in open men (I was nearly 20 at the time), and I won. I won the club pointscore that year and didn’t lose it until 2008. I kept riding and learning about mountain bikes and having fun for 2006 while I coached motocross.
In august 2007, I entered a local NSW cross country race in elite and placed 5th. I bought a road bike and started training and thinking about doing some real racing and taking it a bit seriously. I placed 3rd in the 2007 NSW championship and went onto to win the first 2 rounds of the expert series in the 2007/08 national mountain bike series.
I began training with mark fenner from FTPtraining.com in 2008 and started racing and training to compete in the elite men class.
I placed 2nd in the 2008 NSW elite men XC series and 12th in the elite mens 2008/2009 National mountain bike series.
I continued to train and drop some weight and in 2009 I won the NSW Elite men series, placed 6th overall in the elite men at 2009/2010 National mountain bike series and placed 3rd in the elite men at the 2010 Australian Mountain Bike Championships.
In 2009 I placed 29th at the aussie champs and weighed 86kg. in 2010 I weighed 75kg and placed 3rd..STOKED!
I love the freedom of riding your bike and the endless possibilities that you have. The ability to push your body and the weird sensation that you get when you feel like vomiting and your legs are on fire but at the same time, you just had the best race of your life, ridiculous amounts of fun and got to ride and hang out with your mates.
In my spare time I like to go moto riding, fly kites, play guitar and hang out and go to the movies.
In 2011 i headed to the US to attempt some super D races and experience the american cross country race scene. I achieved some varied success and became HOOKED on racing super D races. In 2012 i am returning to the US and canada to live and race for the year for the Global GIANT Factory Off-road Team. I will be based out of Vanvouver, BC in canada and will focus on SuperD and enduro racing aswell as continuing to race cross country throughout the year on the west coast of the US and and canada.
