Van der Heijden 3rd in U23 XC World Cup Series

After two rounds of the XC World Cup Series, Van der Heijden now sits third overall.
Nineteen-year-old Dutch rider Michiel van der Heijden led the group of Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team riders competing at the second round of World Cup Cross-Country Series, May 21-22, in Dalby Forest, Great Britain.
Van der Heijden, the current Junior XC World Champion, rode his Giant XtC Advanced SL to seventh in the men’s Under-23 race. He now sits third overall in the series after the first two rounds in South Africa and Great Britain.
Swiss rider Fabian Giger was the top Rabobank-Giant rider in the elite men’s race at Dalby Forest, finishing 13th on his XtC Advanced SL. And in the elite women’s race, New Zealand National Champion Rosara Joseph finished 20th.
The 2011 Mountain Bike World Cup Series continues next weekend with Round 3 of the XC series in Offenberg, Germany.
