Compton Crushes at USGP Louisville!

Compton powered through the sandpit at the venue that will host the 2013 World Championships.

Rabobank-Giant rider Katie Compton continued her hot streak in America, with back-to-back wins at Rounds 5 and 6 of the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross in Louisville, Kentucky.

Compton, the No. 1-ranked female ’cross racer in the world, overpowered her competition on her Giant TCX Advanced SL in the Saturday-Sunday race format, riding off the front both days to take the wins.

The fifth and sixth rounds of America’s biggest ’cross series were held in Eva Bandman Park, the host venue for the upcoming 2013 Cyclocross World Championships. Conditions were fast, with a few tricky sand sections to negotiate.

“The ground was pretty rough so it helps to put it in a bigger gear and pedal harder over all the bumps,” Compton told Cyclingnews.com after her win at Round 5 on Saturday. “It’s a great course and super-fast.”

The Colorado resident repeated her performance on Sunday, breaking away early and holding off the chasers including U.S. Under-23 Champion Kaitlin Antonneau and Czech National Champion Katerina Nash, who finished second and third respectively.
