Berasategui Wins Bilbao Triathlon!

May 31, 2011

Giant-sponsored triathlete Virginia Berasategui treated her hometown fans in Bilbao, Spain, to a win at the May 28 Bilbao Triathlon. Berasategui rode the Giant Trinity Advanced SL to the fastest bike split on the 90-kilometer ride, helping her take the overall win with a time of 4:29:40. The race also included a 1.9km swim and a 21km run.

Berasategui beat second- and third-place finishers Martina Dogana and Itsaso Leunda Goñi to take the win.

Berasategui, a 35-year-old Spaniard, joined forces with Giant earlier this year, and already has two wins this season plus a fifth-place pro finish at the Wildflower Triathlon in the U.S. She is focusing on several major Ironman events in 2011, including the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in October.
