Propel Advanced SL
PROPEL ADVANCED SL
Sprint finishes. Solo attacks. Breakaways. Proven through third-party wind-tunnel tests to be more aerodynamic from every yaw angle tested when compared to other leading aero road bikes, the Propel Advanced SL sets a new standard. Tests also showed that, at 40 kph, the Propel Advanced SL saves 12-36 seconds over 40 kilometers. Add in its class-leading light weight and superior ride quality, and the result is clear. Propel Advanced SL is faster from every angle.
Integrated Seatpost
As the pioneer of the integrated seatpost, Giant continues to improve its original design with lighter weight (approximately 45 grams of weight savings, compared to a standard composite seatpost), improved aerodynamics and an even greater “tuned” forgiving ride feel.
Fusion Process
Advanced SL toptubes are “grafted” to the seattube using filament winding and co-molding. This complex process involves hand weaving the two tubes together, then re-molding the area under heat and high pressure to unify the junction - resulting in a lighter, stronger junction than with traditional molding.
Continuous Fiber Technology
This manufacturing process allows Giant to construct the front triangle of Advanced SL bicycles with larger -and therefore fewer- sections of composite material. With fewer pieces and junctions, the frames are up to 100 grams lighter and significantly stronger.
Contact SLR Aero Integrated Bar/Stem
An oversized box-section stem, designed for torsional stiffness and tuned for vertical compliance, is seamlessly integrated into a full carbon handlebar. The aero handlebar top profile maximizes aerodynamic performance.
OverDrive 2
Giant’s innovative oversized fork steerer-tube design increases front-end stiffness and enhances steering performance. The tapered steerer and oversized bearings (1 1/4-inch top, 1 1/2-inch bottom) boost torsional steering stiffness so you can sprint and corner with supreme precision.
SpeedControl SLR brake system
This proprietary braking system offers powerful, aerodynamic stopping power. A composite reverse-position front brake and seatstay-mounted rear brake are hidden from the wind. The system also features strategic trailing edges that further improve aerodynamics.
AeroSystem Shaping Technology
Data compiled from Computational Fluid Dynamics research and wind-tunnel tests was used to optimize the shape of every frameset tube and junction for overall system aerodynamics.
CNT Technology
Carbon Nanotube Technology refers to a microscopic polymer added to Giant’s custom-blended resin. Acting like miniature buttresses, CNT particles strengthen the layers of composite. Frames treated with CNT are 14 percent more impact resistant than those that aren’t.
PowerCore
A massively oversized bottom bracket/chainstay area features a fully integrated, 86mm-wide BB design. Asymmetric chainstays provide additional stiffness on the driveside and stability on the non-driveside.

Years of research, development and testing—in the wind tunnel and on the roads by Team Blanco pros including sprinter Theo Bos—led to the all-new Propel Advanced SL, the world’s fastest aero road bike. Its wind-slicing new innovations include AeroSystem Shaping technology, the SpeedControl SLR brake system and Contact Aero handlebar. The Advanced SL-grade composite frame—with an OverDrive 2 steerer tube for stiff, precise steering and handling, and integrated seatpost for added aerodynamics and compliance—forms the backbone of a bike that has best-in-class light weight and unrivaled aero innovation.
