KELLI EMMETT DIARY, NOVA NATIONAL, MARCH 30 – APRIL 1, 2007
The race went well for me both days. I was pretty psyched with both results. I haven't been able to get in consistent training this year so I was a little worried on how the performance was going to turn out...In the XC race I just took it pretty cautious and knew that I had the best bike for the job...The Anthem and Michelin tires handled sooo nice on the rough terrain and cornered like a dream... I really couldn't imagine a better set up... I felt bad for the women on hard tails... Didn't look like it was fun watching them descend down the rocky descents... It was almost painful to watch... Race was hot and rough but luckily the prep in Puerto Rico the week prior made it seem down right chilly out there…Dry heat really is cooler...
I am pretty psyched with my fitness level right now since these early season races weren't a major focus for me…I am looking to be on form for the World Cups right now so I think I will be coming around just in time…I know I will only continue to get stronger...
The Giant Team Rocks!! I am having such a great time... It is awesome to be with a program that is well organized and easy going.. Everyone is soo helpful, dialed, and just fun to be around... And I haven't even met the gravity athletes yet... I am excited for the next race so I can see everyone again… I can't imagine a better team...
Adam and I decided not to do the Super D since the course wasn't very exciting and had lots of climbing.. We felt like it was more important to focus on the XC race and collect as many UCI points as possible… But, don't count me out on the Super D's this year… I can't wait to check out my Trance...
