Winner: The Giant TCR Advanced 1W was named Best Women’s Road Bike
Bicycling magazine names TCR Advanced 1W and Defy 2
best in their categories
Two Giant bikes were chosen as winners in the prestigious 2010 Bicycling Magazine Editors’ Choice Awards. The Giant TCR Advanced 1W was named Best Women’s Road Bike and the Defy 2 was named Best Entry Level Road Bike.
The Editors’ Choice awards were presented at a bicycle industry party on April 16 at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California. Bicycling is the world’s highest-circulation consumer cycling publication, and its Editors’ Choice awards are considered highly influential in the eyes of its readers and the cycling industry.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized in two very different but equally important categories,” said Dennis Lane, Giant’s global director of product development. “This shows how committed Giant is to the development of women’s products, and also that we strive to produce great bikes for every kind of rider.”
In reviewing the Defy 2, Bicycling editors commented: “As smooth as it is, it’s still a sporty bike with good responsiveness and a lively feel.” And they described the TCR Advanced 1W as having “a light and lively feel. [It] has a sprightly demeanor and aggressive positioning but was still comfortable and stable.”
Bicycling editors narrowed the competition down from thousands of bikes to a small number of finalists that were tested in its June issue. In addition to the two winning bikes, two other Giant models made the elite group of finalists: The Giant TCR Advanced SL Rabobank bike was one of three finalists in the Best Race Bike category and the Giant Defy Advanced 1 was one of three finalists in the Best Plush Bike category.
Giant and the rest of the Editors’ Choice winners are profiled in a slideshow on Bicycling.com and will also be featured in the June issue of Bicycling, which goes on sale May 4.
