T-MOBILE’S KIRCHEN IN TOP TEN IN TdF

(July 26, 2007) The Tour de France ends on Sunday July 26. In this strange race, T-Mobile Team rider Kim Kirchen may have his best Grand Tour finish ever.   Riding the Giant TCR Advanced T-Mobile Team bicycle, Kirchen has managed to climb into the top ten in the General Classification in the last week of the tour. In fact, Kirchen in effect won Stage 15. He came in second, :51 seconds behind stage winner Alexander Vinokourov. But Vino and his Astana team left the Tour in disgrace the very next day when the Kazakh rider tested positive for blood doping.   At the end of Stage 16, Kirchen was 8th overall in the GC, 14:46 behind stage winner and wearer of the yellow jersey Michael Rasmussen. But with the Dane’s firing by Team Rabobank (for lying to the team as to why he missed drug tests), by the end of Stage 17, Kirchen is in 7th place, 11:36 behind Alberto Contador of Team Discovery.   For more information about the T-Mobile Team’s performance in the Tour de France, visit:   www.t-mobile-team.com
