WHAT A DAY!
MIKE ROGERS DIARY, JULY 14, 2007
Hello,
What a day for the team that was! Hats off to Linus, that was an incredible performance. We knew he had it in him. As I said after yesterdays race, it was clear that Linus has been finding his form in the last few days. He was up front right through Thursdays difficult stage.
It was a brave move to go so early today knowing a climb like the Colombi貥 was so near the finish. Hes got amazing talent, what a future he has ahead of him!
Linuss win has lifted the whole team. We came to this Tour with broader ambitions but are happy to have yellow tonight. I felt good today. Kim was with me through the final climb and paced me nicely. Im pleased to have finished in the main chasing group.
All the favourites were there but as I expected none of them attacked today. A wait and see approach was adopted. It was important to save some strength today. I expect tomorrow to be different. Were facing the hardest Alpine stage with three category 1 climbs. A big GC shake-up is inevitable. I plan to be right in the thick of it.
But, for the moment, were delighted with today. Well get together for a small celebration tonight with perhaps a tipple of champagne. Nobody will get carried away though, tomorrow will be a tough day.
