BIKE magazine test Reign X1

(July 2, 2007) BIKE magazine has tested the Giant Reign X1 for the August 2007 issue. Editor Travis Engel has the following to say about the bike:

"With its Reign X1, Giant has set out to bring this revolution to the masses. For $2600—about the price you'll pay for a boutique frame—you can have a complete, ready-to-rip X1."

"At the top of the hill, when the armor went on and the seat went down, everything came together. The extra weight of the coil shock paid me back with stupidly supple trail sensitivity. The just-right 67-degree headtube angle felt as good plowing down rocky minefields as it did muscling through steep, behind-the-saddle chicanes. With so much of the bike's mass collected around the pedals, it whipped around like a bike half its weight. The X1 makes a strong argument that 6.7 is the new 5. New linkage designs are expanding the all-mountain genre to new heights, and those without four grand to spend need not be left behind."
