ADAM CRAIG 10TH IN WORLD CUP #3
(June 10, 2007) Giant MTB Team Rider Adam Craig, riding the Giant Anthem Advanced, placed 10th overall on Saturday June 9 in the UCI World Cup #3-XC race in Champerey Switzerland. Adam was the highest-finishing American in the event, and his 10th place is made even more remarkable when you consider that he started the race in 63rd.
In cyclingnews.com’s coverage of the event, Adam was quoted this way: "What can I say? It's June, this is when I get in shape. I was able to move up pretty quickly initially - this course is a lot like the local race series in Bangor, Maine, so it was just like racing on home turf."
What’s even more impressive is that Adam is now the highest ranking American in UCI World Cup points; that’s significant as US Olympic Committee selections base their choices in part on World Cup points as to who represents the United States in the Olympics in Beijing next year. It also appears to secure Adam a spot on the US team going to the Pan Am games in Rio de Janeiro in mid-July.
The photos of Adam’s run in Champerey were taken by Giant MTB team Road Manager Elke Brutsaert.
