T-MOBILE WINS IN MONTREAL & PENNSYLVANIA

(June 8, 2007) The T-Mobile hotspot has been in bike races in Montreal and Pennsylvania!!   T-Mobile’s Oenone Wood stamped her authority with an emphatic overall victory of the Tour du Grand Montreal, beating off strong competition from Trixi Worrack (Équipe Nürnberger) and Giorgia Bronzini (Safi - Pasta Zara Manhattan) to also win the final stage. She has scooped two stage wins, the points and sprint jersey in this world-class event. Wood and the entire T-Mobile Team ride the Giant TCR Advanced T-Mobile Team bicycle.

"I surprised myself today because I wasn't feeling that great," said Wood after the uphill sprint. "I was just lucky that I had such a good team to do all the work for me. They brought me into good position for the climb and I knew all I had to do was hold on to Trixi's wheel”.

With 300 meters to go Worrack’s Equipe Nürberger team-mate Claudia Hausler attacked but Wood stayed with her and launched a counter attack in the final stretch to win the stage and overall victory. The German pro paid tribute to the strength of the T-Mobile team, and how proud she was of her own team for not giving up their goal of winning the race. "This stage was not hard enough to split the bunch and T-Mobile was so strong today," she said.

But the race didn't start that well for T-Mobile Team. "We didn't have a good start, Alex Rhodes had some damage to her wheel and Trixi won the first sprint ahead of Oenone", said Sporting Manager Anna Wilson. Wood's lead in the general classification shrank to just five seconds.

Cheerwine's Chrissy Ruiter launched a breakaway after the first climb, giving her a lead of 1:15 before three riders bridged up to her including Meredith Miller (Team Lipton) and Carla Ryan (Australian National Team). The four stayed ahead of the peloton for 40km until T-Mobile and Nürnberger sent all their riders to the front to bring them back.

Chantal Beltman and Anke Wichmann chased it all back together and kept coming back to do more, said Wood. “My team really rode well today”, she said.

Safi-Pasta's sprinter Giorgia Bronzini placed third in the field sprint and marked her fourth podium in five stages.
T-Mobile showed their dominance during this year's tour with Wood claming three of the four jerseys on offer. The magenta team also placed three riders in the top four, enough to bring home the overall team prize.

TEUTENBERG & EISEL DOUBLE-UP IN DOUBLE-WIN IN READING   Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and Bernard Eisel each won their respective races in the Commerce Bank Triple Crown in Reading, Pennsylvania. All that is left for both T-Mobile Team riders to achieve clean sweeps is the final stage in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 10.   In the women’s race, Teutenberg, the defending champion of the Triple Crown, crossed the finish line first in a sprint finish, edging out Laura Van Gilder of Cheerwine and Theresa Cliff-Ryan of Verducci Breakaway Racing.   In the men’s race, Eisel saved everything he had for a final sprint in the 75 mile race to beat Oleg Grishkin of Navigators and Alejandro Borrajo of Rite Aid.   The men and women in magenta ride the Giant TCR Advanced Team T-Mobile bicycle. Click here to see the dominant bike in the pro peloton!   Information for these race results can be found at:   www.t-mobile-team.com   And   www.cyclingnews.com   And   www.velonews.com
