Giant receives four awards in annual competition among Taiwanese exporters

Tachia, Taichung (February 15, 2010)—Giant’s Trinity Advanced SL series of cutting-edge composite triathlon/TT bikes was named “Best Innovation” at the 2010 Innovative Bike and Components Awards, an annual list of the top cycling products chosen by the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association.

The Trinity Advanced SL, developed initially for Giant-sponsored professional athletes including 2009 Giro d’Italia champion Denis Menchov of the Rabobank Pro Cycling Team and German Ironman triathlon champion Timo Bracht, became available to consumers late last year.

Proven to be aerodynamically superior through extensive wind-tunnel tests, the Trinity Advanced SL was conceived at Giant’s renowned engineering center in the company’s Tachia, Taichung headquarters. The innovative frameset is constructed at Giant’s C-Tech composite factory, and the bikes are distributed through Giant retailers around the world.

The “Best Innovation” Award was one of four collected by Giant in the TBEA’s 2010 awards. The Trinity Advanced SL also took top honors in the Complete Bicycles category, and the Chiron DS1, a performance-oriented folding bike, finished third in the Complete Bicycles category. Also winning an award for Giant was the Cyclotron Fluid Trainer, seventh in the “Others” category.

“To receive four awards, in categories ranging from elite-level competitive bikes to everyday bikes and even training gear, is a real honor,” said Giant CEO Tony Lo. “It’s our mission to produce smart cycling solutions for all types of riders, and this shows we’re on the right track.”

The Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association, the organization behind the Innovative Bike and Components Awards, was founded in 1992. The association represents its members, Taiwanese companies involved with the bicycle industry, in interactions with the Taiwan government.
