DALES OF GLASGOW AND GIANT BICYCLES TEAM UP FOR A WILD DAY OUT

Giant Bicycles and Dales of Glasgow have teamed together to sponsor Colin Downie on his epic cycle around the coast of Scotland in aid of WildHearts, a ground-breaking charity organisation that offers microfinance to the poor in developing countries to help start their businesses. Giant and Dales have donated a Giant SCR 1 to help Colin achieve this huge personal challenge. On the 28th of June Colin will be setting off on his mammoth cycle challenge around the entire coast of Scotland, biking over 1,000 miles and ascending collective heights more than twice that of Everest, and all in just two weeks! In an extraordinary twist of life, Colin will be finishing his challenge on the mountain range that almost killed him in a paragliding accident three years ago. Whilst paragliding over the Glen Ogle Hills Colin crashed into a mountain face at 40mph, miraculously he survived but was forced to drag himself off the hill on his elbows, dragging with him a broken pelvis, dislocated hip, crushed foot, broken ankle whilst also suffering from two collapsed lungs. After many months of intense therapy and physio Colin is now ready to push himself to my limits again on this hugely difficult cycle challenge. He also wants to complete his journey in the allotted time so to reach the site of his accident on the 12th of July, the third anniversary of the crash. Here at Giant we would like to wish Colin all the best in his personal WildHearts challenge and would like to remind you that if you would wish to donate or sponsor Colin you can do so at www.wilddayout.com/colin
