So far the 2007 season has been a bit of a mixed bag for Giant's triathlon team. There have been some outstanding results, tempered slightly by a number of frustrating injuries to some of the team.
Richard Stannard has had a cracking start to the season with a win at the Windsor Triathlon. This is one of the biggest domestic races in the calendar so it looks like it is going to be a great 2007 for Richard.
Andrea Whitcombe has also made an ideal beginning. Coming 5th at the world's richest triathlon held in Des Moines, Iowa a couple of weeks back shows how an injury free pre-season can come to fruition early in the race year.
However, a number of other team members have not been so fortunate. Marc Jenkins and Helen Tucker have had to spend a significant amount of time trying to get over achilles problems. Both are taking their time to ensure proper recovery and Marc thinks that they'll be back training within a couple of weeks (for more from Helen on her injury and recovery please see the latest edition of Ultra Fit magazine). Olly Freeman has had to rest his foot after a problem whilst swimming but he is generally happy with the way his training has gone and is still on course to try and win the World U'23 Championship.
Although not the perfect start for all the team, it still looks like the 2007 season is going to be a great one for all of Giant's triathletes so please keep checking back for updates.
