I spent my early childhood in a small town called Woods Point. We used to ride our BMX’s all day around town and bush. My mother passed away when I was 9 at the same time we moved to Melbourne. As a teenager I played cricket and hockey and rode the bikes down by the Yarra river.
At 17 I left school to start a bricklaying apprenticeship and live life – things started to get slightly out of control. By the time I was 21 i weighed 105kg and was unhappy with where life was heading. so I walked into a bike shop and bought a bike.
I raced that weekend finishing 6th in novice and winning 2 weeks latter. Over the next few years I moved up through the XC
I race because I never stop learning from the experience. Everybody is addicted to something and riding is the best addiction you can find.
