BIO

I grew up in Bowral in Australia in a small town. I first started riding a BMX around the street and used to go do dirt jumps on the weekend with my mates. I started mountain biking when I was about 17, after I did a 3 week cycle touring trip with my uncle from Adelaide to Sydney. I was just a high school kid who ate maccas before doing the cycle touring holiday, but after the trip I realised how fun it was being fit and healthy. I started getting into training just so I could stay fit, then the local bike shop told me about weekend mountain bike races. I always dreamed of doing mountain bike racing but I never thought I’d be good enough to actually make it through a race. Once I started I was addicted!

Then I started winning some stuff and I just wanted to keep getting better. I did my first 24hr race solo in 2005 and got 2nd. Since then I’ve been sponsored by

Giant. I never dreamed I’d get this far in the sport. I love every minute of it!

Off the bike, I like old-school rock like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, but also new stuff like Kings of Leon, I’m not really into dance music. I love cranking hardcore, solid guitar and strong vocals when I’m out training, it amps me up.

When I’m off the bike, I like hanging out with mountain bikers and friends. I’m also at uni studying Advertising and Journalism and I’m editor of the Australian mountain bike magazine called ‘Enduro’. I feel so appreciative for what mountain biking has given me. Ten years ago I was just a kid with no motivation doing average at school, if I could go back then and see myself now I wouldn’t believe it. Mountain biking is an awesome sport with awesome people – I couldn’t imagine life without it!
