Riding on their home turf in Bend, Oregon, Craig and Decker were untouchable.
Giant cross-country riders stormed the podiums at the USA Cycling Marathon Nationals Saturday in Bend, Oregon, winning three medals combined in the men’s and women’s events. Adam Craig, Carl Decker and Kelli Emmett each took home a medal.
In the men’s race it was a one-two punch from Giant with Rabobank-Giant rider Craig winning the championship and Decker, from the Giant Factory Off-Road Team, finishing a close second. Riding their Anthem X 29ers, the two were untouchable. Craig and Decker finished within 12 seconds of each other, and the next closest rider was more than 10 minutes back. The Giant duo, both residents of Bend, rode together for most of the race. For Craig, it was a second national title this year—he also won the Super D championship earlier this summer.
Emmett, riding for the Giant Factory Off-Road Team, finished second in the women’s race, scoring her second podium at a major event in three days. Proving her versatility once again, the Coloradan followed up a third-place finish at Cross Vegas, America’s biggest cyclocross race, with a second-place finish to Pua Mata at marathon nationals in Bend.
