Giant boasts two of the world's top long-distance triathletes, German Timo Bracht and Spaniard Virginia Berasategui. Both have won multiple European titles and are now focused on Ironman competitions.
Bracht is a two-time winner of the Ironman Europe title and one of the world’s most prolific Ironman triathletes over the last decade. The 35-year-old has won Ironman races in Florida, South Africa, France, Germany and Arizona, setting several course records along the way.
Bracht races for the Germany-based Commerzbank Triathlon team and this year is once again focusing on the sport’s biggest prizes, Ironman Hawaii. He has been a consistent threat at the race, collecting five top-15 finishes in Kona.
Berasategui is new to Giant this year, and is looking forward to racing the Trinity Advanced SL at ITU long distance and Ironman events in 2011. From the Basque region of Spain, Berasategui has won European and World Championships at various distances and has emerged in the past few years as a top threat to win Ironman Hawaii. She finished third there in 2009 and was fourth at Kona last year.
