Giant founder King Liu  again showed his passion for cycling with a ride through
the bicycle-friendly nation of The Netherlands

Lelystad, Netherlands(June 21, 2010) — The Founder and President of Giant Bicycles Global Group, King Liu, embarked his latest cycling journey "Green World on Wheels" in June 14 in Puremend, The Netherlands and successfully accomplished 500 kms around The Netherlands in June 19. 

After King Liu completed the Tour around Taiwan in 2007 and Beijing to Shanghai Tour in 2009, he not only fulfilled a personal dream, but also made Giant’s home nation, Taiwan,  an island full of cyclists wtih passion to challenge their own boudary to accomplish the cycling tour aroudn Taiwan.

"Green World on Wheels" aims to promote the usage of bicycles as the urban mobility solution as well as the sport / leisure activity.  This event also had a goal to promote the fact taht cycling is good for the environment and personal well-being. In addition, government officials from the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communication also participated the study trip of the cycling infrastructure / policy of The Netherlands.  The goal of this study trip is to learn the Dutch experiences to improve Taiwan cycling environment and take the next steps to become a “Cycling Island.” Donations from powerful supporters funded the whole event.

In The Netherlands, more than 27 percent of travels are completed by bicycles. In Amsterdam, the percentage is even as high as 37 percent. The nation is known to have the most cycling-friendly infrastructures in the world.  King leaded a group of 24 cyclists through the Netherlands totally experienced the benefits of riding in The Netherlands. 

"I am so impressed by how safe it is to cycle in the Netherlands. With all the wonder landscape, fresh air and great cycling network. it's truely a pleasure to cycle here.  Here in the Netherlands, cyclists has path to ride on, and traffic rule to follow. This is another important point that I will bring back to Taiwan to share with our government and society." King share his view points with journalists during the interviews.

Bringing together government officials and the general public, through King’s passion for cycling, Green World on Wheels drew a lot of attnetion in this short week from the general public and local medias alike.  As a cycling envangelist, King's cycling passion encourage him to have a greater ambition to further influence the 85% of the world population that do not ride bicycles at all .
