The Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team finished off the cyclocross season in high style Sunday at the final round of the GVA Trofee series in Oostmalle, Belgium. Under-23 World Champion Lars Van der Haar won the U23 race, and Bart Aernouts finished on the podium in the elite men’s race.

On a chilly but dry day, Van der Haar showed why he has won every major U23 title this year, riding his Giant TCX Advanced SL to another victory. The win also gave Van der Haar the overall title in the GVA Trofee final standings.

The elite men’s race was a tight battle, with most of the sport’s major stars on hand for the last big cyclocross race of the season. Belgian Niels Albert launched a solo attack while Aernouts battled with former world champions Sven Nys, Zdenek Stybar and Bart Wellens in the chase. Aernouts’ teammate Gerben de Knegt was also in the chase.

In the end, Aernouts edged out Nys and Wellens (fourth and fifth) to take the final podium spot. De Knegt finished seventh.
