CITYSTORM – THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL

After having received the Eurobike Award in gold last year, Giant has now been awarded the red dot design award for its innovative citybike.

When it comes to bikes, “Citystorm” without any doubt sets a new trend in urban design 2008/2009. Six years after Apples iPod had won the red dot design award, Giants Citystorm followed its example. The worlds biggest cycle manufacturer beat the records with its design model and won the red dot design award 2008.

“Citystorm” keeps on scooping the market: Already last year the bike has received the most prestigious price for bike-design, the Eurobike Award in gold, from a top-class panel of bike-experts.
On the one hand the Citystorm is a symbol for a conscious living in times of envi-ronmental pollution and waste of energy. On the other hand it represents the trend for a simple lifestyle – ease through innovation.
Sophisticated engineering meets classic shapes – Citystorms combination of de-sign and functionality is unique. The jury of the red dot design award also agreed to that. The red dot award is one of the world’s biggest design contests. Only products with new standards of innovation, functionality and ecological compatibil-ity can receive the price.
Giant achieved that in many respects: the handlebars, the pedals und the saddle are shaped ergonomically following the latest standards. Therefore even long rides mean pure pleasure without tiresome tensions in the neck or numbness in hands and feet. Due to its frame geometry the Citybike is easy to handle and manages all difficulties of major city traffic.

Above all Giants Citystorm convinces the LOHAS-audience with its concept.
The puristic style and the integrated design of the “Simple Lifestyle Look” as as well as clean and sustainable production (Kaizen-Principle) have inspired this attractive target market. Giant’s new Citybike-concept meets the LOHAS-zeitgeist (“Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability“). Citystorm design reflects their attitude toward life, lightness, comfort and the pleasure of bike riding.
A gentle ride and a smooth gear change was achieved by picking the right components. The Shimano Nexus-Gearshift is especially well protected against effects of the weather. With its eight gears the multifunctional Citybike even takes steeper rises easily. The LED-lights, the on-board computer and the bike lock are discreetly integrated in its design concept. Additionally included is a pannier that is easily to be fastened on the carrier.
