Killeen Wins 5th British XC Title!

Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Liam Killeen won his fifth consecutive national championship title Sunday at the British XC Championships in Berkshire, England. The 30-year-old rode a prototype Giant 29er hardtail to a dominating win just three weeks ahead of his bid to win a medal at the upcoming London Olympic Games.
Killeen had to battle back from a punctured tire early in the race, but after a wheel change he surged back to take the lead at the midway point of the race. Storming his way through the mostly flat course at Wasing Wasing Park Estate, near Aldermaston, he continued to ride away from the field, beating second-place finisher David Fletcher by 3:22.
“I’ve got three weeks now until the Olympics, today was a nice stepping stone,” Killeen said. “There’s still plenty of time to build a little more fitness, and I’m just going to give it my best shot on the day.”
