Hart Wins Maxxis Cup Opener!
Danny Hart of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team kicked off his 2011 season in style, winning Sunday’s opening round of the 2011 Maxxis Cup series in Portugal on his Giant Glory team bike.
Hart posted the fastest time, 2:47.9, on a fast, rocky course in Gouveia, Portugal, beating second-place finisher Neko Mulally of the U.S. by 3.7 seconds.
Hart, a 19-year-old rising star in downhill racing, finished eighth overall in the World Cup series last year, his first year competing at the elite level. He is once again focusing on international competition this year, including the World Cup, which kicks off in South Africa April 23-24.
